National Energy Grid of United Kingdom - National Electricity ...

Dear All ,
Go to the link above and look at the map of the UK National Grid.
I saw Dafydd Elis Thomas speak on BBC Parliament from WAG. He asked Carwyn Jones about linking Wylfa to Pembrokeshire with a new National Grid connection. Carwyn Jones ignored the actual question and just said that Wylfa is linked off the island of Anglesey.
Now Wylfa is 1050MW if I recall. The new Pembroke Power station will be over 2000MW. Wales ONLY USES 2000MW, so what is the POINT of linking Anglesey to Pembs to "make a National grid for Wales" as Dafydd El put it?
Wales will GENERATE over 6800MW when Pembroke and Uskmouth are added to present generation. We EXPORT to the 50 million in England. Therefore it makes sense to send Pembs 2000MW east to Swansea, Valleys , Cardiff, Gwent and then England. Aberthaw is already generating up to 1500MW to link in to this system . Plus Baglan contributes.
Wylfa also takes electricity east along the North Wales coast. What is the POINT of linking Pembs to Anglesey when BOTH have far more electricity than they consume?
The ONLY point would be if we were to have major electricity using industrial plants along the West Wales coast. They are very highly unlikely whilst there is large unemployment further east.
There is no large population to demand the extra juice on the west coast of Wales.
The Grid is fine as it is, because Wales sends so much surplus EAST to highly populated England from both North and South of Wales.
Dafydd El did not give any LOGIC for his Pembs /Anglesey link.......apart from "linking Wales". What is the point if it is not NEEDED? Dafydd El shows a total lack of technical nous, by asking for such an EXPENSIVE NG link where it is not needed.
But this question made me check the N G map on the link above.
It is VERY illuminating!! Look at the PROPOSED NG improvements .
" VERY STRONG NEED CASE " is marked by a broad YELLOW arrow.
It links SHREWSBURY with a point near ABERGWESYN near RHAYADER . I worked that out from the blank map of Wales. Now we know that Shrewsbury is proposed to be linked to Montgomeryshire, but did anyone know the NG are thinking of linking the Abergwesyn area of the Cambrian Mountains?
Does that mean they STILL want wind turbines in the Camddwr area [ I fought Camddwr for 3 years 10 years ago or so]in the "great desert of Wales" between Tregaron and Rhayader ? This is close to Cefn Croes .
Do they intend to ALSO link BRECHFA FOREST across via LLANLLWNI towards Lampeter and ON TO Abergwesyn..........ALL TO SERVE ENGLAND VIA SHREWSBURY ?
Newtown South could be linked into this route, as well as Carno North.
IT WILL ALL LEAVE WALES VIA SHROPSHIRE !!!
DO THEY PLAN EVEN MORE IN MID WALES THAN THEY ALREADY WANT TO DUMP ON US ???
Don't forget THEIR YELLOW BAND WITH ARROWS EITHER END IS......."VERY STRONG NEED CASE !!!"
LOOK WHERE IT IS ON THE MAP OF WALES. THEY EVEN HAVE A RED ARROW FOR "FUTURE REQUIREMENT " POINTING NORTH FROM ABERGWESYN TOWARDS NORTH WALES.
WHAT DO THEY PLAN??????????
WHY ARE THOSE ARROWS SO FAR SOUTH????
What are your opinions, please? Go to the NG map of the UK on www.geni.org
Is FREEDOM OF INFORMATION any good in finding out more ??
