The above speaks volumes as to why a Language, Land and
Liberty Campaign
is needed and urgently required asap

It would be quite permissible for 'Radical Rural Activists' to consider they begining
their 'Long Walk For Wales' by assembling on Mynydd Bach this Sunday as a symbolic
gesture in
memory of pobl Mynydd Bach who in 1826 made a stand for Land and Liberty.
It goes
with out saying this was also a stand for Language and tradition of old as well
as for
their
native rights and ancient customs going back to the 'Laws of Hywel Dda'.

from Mynydd Bach to the Council Offices in Aberaeron to hold a throught the night
'Candle Lit Vigil', to be joined on the Monday Morning by as many supporters as possible
to Placard Protest Picket Councillors as they come into the Council Offices.

Whilst upon Mynydd Bach consider, just why do poets have a memorial and not same
for Dafydd y Ifan Gof and his Son Siaci y Ifan Gof, indeed why not?. Let me tell you this,
years back Cofiwn held a well attended meeting of local Welsh and English people to
discuss such a memorial. The suggestion was after a long discussion voted down, not
exclusivelly by the English present who on the whole attended in the main out of interest
and I dare say some concern. No! it was the local 'Cymry' who for the most part were
against, in which one of their number concluded the meeting by making the final limp
statement:

''that the story of.............................
Mynydd Bach would remain in their hearts
and thus there
was no need for a memorial''.

However, after the meeting a local pro - memorial Patriot
told us the pathetic truth! that
the reason the 'natives' were against was because the
local primary School had a 'closure
threat' on it and it was thought that if the 'natives'
supported the memorial the 'English
incomers' would not support the campaign to keep the school open. That was very doubtful
but anyway within six months the School was closed down and today, what has the School
become since? Whatever, if and when on Mynydd Bach do consider a memorial to these two
'Peoples Heroes' of Land and Liberty Struggle.

There is no memorial in homage to this 'Land and Liberty struggle', but would it not be great to have a sculpture of Dafydd y Ifan Gof with Pitchfork and his son Ifan y Gof' sounding his horn and inscribed upon a base, a couplet of the time:

Fe dwythwyrd yr udgorn
ar ben yr Hebryg Fawr
Dach mwy na mil o ddynion
ynghyd mewn hanner awr.
.
The horn was sounded on Hebryg Fawr.
More than a 1000 men came together
in half an hour.

Inspired? after Aberaeron on to Porthmadog for similar Protests, then on to Vyrnwy via Tryweryn, Bala and Llanwchllyn. On into the Penllyn Forest of the post 1416 'Gwerin Owain - Welsh Outlaw Resistence', then toward Bwlch y Groes along Wuan y Gadfa to Pont Eunant on the banks of Llyn Efyrnwy.

Also misc Info on 18th & 19th Century 'Tai Unnos' and 'Squatter Towns' , the latter of which I had never heard of before, will have to look into this. I must say we got to be very thankful of the work the 'bodies' concerned below are doing, not least the photos which remind me, just how how much and why I love this county of ours - 'CYMRU'.
