VYRNWY LAND & LIBERTY CAMPAIGN: Contemporary Patriotic Protests in Wales For Language Rights and an ADFYWIAD GWLADGAROL 1961 - 1969.

.
Part I:
.
The Militants and Resistence to Investiture'69.
.
The web is full of 'Bullish' or should that be 'Bullshite' Welsh Patriot Websites and 'Key Board Facebook Fusiliers', some of these I regard as MI5 'Stings' whilst others are possibly no more than 'Infantile and Immature Adventurists and Opportunists' as Cymru 1400 and Balchder Cymru, the former a website I would advise one and all to avoid whilst the latter poses in a number of guises, as once upon a time 'National Liberation Movement, to ''Political Concsiousness Group'', to of late and I guess continuing a ''Welsh Socialist Republican Movement'', specialising in 'Cymric - Celtic Bonding Campsites', they should be treated with mirth or derision.
.
However, there are genuine patriots with a genuine interest and admiration for a passed into history ''Sixties Struggle'', at present being if not bueried then cast into the shadows. See as an example an illustrated booklet officially produced for higher schools; Terfysg a Phrotest' by Catrin Stevens, there are 20 section on the history of Revolt from Owain Glyndwr to Popular Risings to 'Rock & Roll' , Welsh Language Struggle and Greenham Common. However, whilst 'Tan yn Llyn' gets it's place in this largelly 'Bourgeoisie Cultural Nationalist' presentation, as does 'Cofiwch Dreweryn' but with out mention of patriots as Owain Williams and the 'Boys from Gwent'.

I have recently offered up to such patriotic 'Fringe Fantasists'
opportunity
to engage in a real Radical Republicans Against
Monarchy RAM struggle over
coming five years, instead of
their playing of 'Patriot Games' It will be very
interesting to
see if they do engage in something real or go on faking it?
Time will tell! See link below:

Much of above interest is inspired by the books as 'To Dream of Freedom' and the recently published book 'Freedom Fighters' Wales's Forgotten War. Telling the story of a major serious 'Welsh Revolt' during the 'Sixties', it is largelly the story of the Free Wales Army and Mudiad Amdiffyn Cymru:

All this is above is about an increasingly distant
'Sixties Struggle', many of the Websites, Facebook
and Youtube presentations indulge in a 'fantasy
fringe patriotism' whilst others express a
genuine admiration for the sacrifices made by
patriots engaged in the Adfywiad Gwladgarol
1962 - 1969. For your further interest and

Much of the motivation whilst no doubt being altruistic and
prompted by genuine reasons of discontent. There was
however much that were percieved wrongs of an historical
nature, some real and others a rather narrow 'Cultural
Nationalism' rooted back to a perhaps much 'immagined
medieval Cymru' and not least rooted in the rise of
18th century 'Cultural Nationalist Romanticism' overlayed
by a much more dominating mass popular 'Religious Revival
Wales'. Some of this perception was of a 'Gogcentric' as much
as 'Saiscentric' interpretation of Welsh History that focuses a
lot on such as the 1848 'Blue Books':

As one Welsh Historian as stated, after the troops opened fire
betime the gun smoke had cleared, the rising victorian Welsh
middle class had decided on which side their bread was to be
hence fourth buttered! Post 1850, increasingly as a Welsh
'Capitalist Class' and in service of the 'British Empire' too!
This very much along with continued 'Religious Revival'
detirmined the way Welsh Culture would be shaped
and sustain itself, untill the Edwardian Age from turn
of the 19th century up to the signifigant period of
1905 - 1911 - 1914 conspired for 'All Change'
and not for the better as far as the Welsh
'Cultural Nation' was concerned or,
indeed the 'Welsh Working Class'
either!
